COMING UP ON RICHARD ENGEL’S HIDDEN PLANET – SATURDAY, JUNE 16

North Korea: A Cult Of Personality to Premiere on“Rock Center with Brian Williams” iPad App, then RockCenterNBC.com

New York, NY – June 15, 2012 – In an unexpected departure from his usual beat of war-torn territories and areas of conflict, NBC News Chief Foreign Correspondent, Richard Engel, sets off on journeys of discovery to find the most awe-inspiring, rarely seen locations around the globe in “Rock Center with Brian Williams” iPad App and web-only series Hidden Planet.

This Saturday, June 16, North Korea: The Cult of Personality, the fifth installment of Engel’s Hidden Planet series, will debut on “Rock Center with Brian Williams” iPad App, followed by RockCenterNBC.com.

By most standards, North Korea is an area of conflict. And it’s one of the most secretive nations on earth. Self-imposed isolation has allowed the North Koreans to develop a way of living not seen elsewhere, at least not anymore. Journalists are allowed into North Korea about once a year on highly controlled visits. This is a country where the state controls everything. Engel spent two weeks in North Korea and got a rare and revealing look at real life inside this very closed country.

From the Lost City of Timbuktu to the tunnels beneath the Giza Pyramids, and everywhere in-between, this is a side of Engel - and the world - that you’ve never seen before.
