NBC BROADCAST MARKS 175TH CONSECUTIVE WEEK AT #1


JANUARY 23, 2013 – “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” was the most-watched network evening newscast for the week ending January 20, 2013, according to Nielsen Media Research data. The NBC broadcast averaged 9.169 million total viewers and 2.485 million viewers aged 25-54.

“NBC Nightly News” Weekly Highlights:

  • Nightly delivered 9.169 million total viewers, +7% (+625,000) more than ABC World News’ 8.544 million and +27% (+1,955,000) more than CBS Evening News’ 7.214 million.
  • Nightly averaged a 6.2/11 Household rating, ahead of ABC’s 5.7/11 and CBS’ 4.9/9.
  • Nightly has won for 175 consecutive weeks in total viewers, and in 222 of the past 223 weeks among total viewers.
  • Nightly delivered a 2.1 A25-54 rating, +2 tenths ahead of ABC’s 1.9 rating and +4 tenths more than CBS’s 1.7 rating.
  • Among A25-54 (000), Nightly averaged 2.485 million viewers, +11% (+249,000) viewers ahead of World News’ 2.236 million and +21% (+424,000) ahead of Evening News’ 2.061 million.
  • Nightly has topped World News in A25-54 (000) for 217 consecutive weeks.

Quarter and Season-to-Date Highlights:
  • Season-to-date, Nightly leads World News by +768,000 total viewers, and by +350,000 Adult 25-54 viewers.
